THE PARISH CHURCH, LAVENHAM

The Church of St. Peter and St. Paul is, perhaps, one of England's finest parish churches. My rather poor digital picture does not do it justice. It was built, around 1486 to 1525, largely through the wealth of the woollen cloth industry. Its main benefactors were rich Lavenham clothiers such as the Springs and John de Vere, who was Lord of the Manor and Earl of Oxford. No visitor to Lavenham should miss the opportunity to explore this magnificent building.
